Getting married, your birthday, it's your prom, it's the first time you want to rent a limousine but you don't know where to start? How much does it cost? is there any hidden charges? or how much should I tip the driver?
Read these useful tips to use during your search until the end of your ride. Before you make your reservation:

Ask the limousine company about any additional charges (besides gratuity and tax) before you make your reservation. For example: fuel surcharge, meeting and greeting, airport fees, extra travel time, or any other fees.

Ask the limousine company about their cancellation policy. For example: The deadline for canceling without being charged. Ask about cancellation fees, etc...

If you think you might go over the time limit of your reservation, it is better to inform the limousine company before the date of service. This will save you money and you guaranty availability for the extra time. If the company has the vehicle reserved after your time is over they might not be able to extend your reservation in the last minute.

Call the limousine company to confirm your reservation a week ahead to insure they still have your reservation. It is a good idea to call the day of service a few hours prior to pickup, especially if it is your wedding.

Request the driver's name and phone number in case the he/she is late or can't find your location, it will be easier to fix the problem directly with the driver than calling the company and waiting until they contact the driver.

During the service:

Be courteous with the driver. He/she is the one who ca

n make your experience a pleasant one.

Always request a receipt. Especially if you're paying cash and your credit card is on file at the companys’ office. If there is any confusion and your card is charged more than you expected you can use your receipt to dispute the extra charges with the limousine company or even with your bank.

Try not to damage anything in the vehicle or cause excessive cleaning. You may be charged extra if either occurs. Refer to the limousine company terms and condition when you make your reservation.

When dropped off at your destination, don't forget to ask the driver for his/her phone number and call 10-15 minutes before you're ready to leave for your next destination.

Don't leave valuables in the vehicle. Don't forget anything in the vehicle after the service is completed. No one is responsible for your belongings except you.

Tipping the driver:

Typical gratuity is 15-20% of your total bill.

Most limousine companies charge the 15-20% gratuity automatically upfront when you pay for your reservation. However, in most cases the driver does not get this whole portion; each limousine company has a different policy, for example: some companies may split the gratuity between all drivers and the administrative staff.

In this case, you can give him/her an addition 10% or so.

If the limousine company doesn't charge the gratuity upfront, you're expected to give at least 20% tip for the driver. (preferably in cash)

It's a good idea to give the driver half of the tip in the beginning or during the service and the rest at the end. This way the driver would have a chance to show you his/her appreciation and provide you an excellent service.
