An Australian girl follower of Hare Krishna cummunity was shot at by an Indian man, succumbed to her injuries in Vrindavan near Mathura.
Twenty-six-year-old Leela was shot at by Saurav (28) after an arguement. Saurav — the nephew of a former
cabinet minister in Uttar Pradesh — later committed suicide.
The family claims that Saurav was stalking Leela and that though they had complained to the police, the police had
taken no action against him.
The Indian police as usual tried to shift the blame saying that it was a lover's tiff that went horri

bly wrong.
Leela was rushed to Apollo Hospital in Agra, but doctors were unable to remove bullet fragments that had lodged
themselves in her brain.
She was then shifted to a guesthouse in Vrindavan where she was surrounded by members of the Vrindavan
Hare Krishna community — of which she was a follower.
She died of heart failure as a result of her injuries.
The incident took place near ISKCON temple in Raman Reti area of Vrindavan.
Police have decided to drop the inverstigation, saying that since Saurav was already dead, there was no point in further pursuing the case.
